Component-level ideas for vibration, shock, and acoustic-control applications.

This page is intentionally non-confidential. It presents problem areas and concept-level directions without exposing unpublished geometries, design details, CAD files, or patent-sensitive information.

Vibro-acoustic isolation mount

A compact mechanism-enhanced mount for UUV/ROV payloads, cameras, batteries, electronics, IMU modules, and underwater inspection systems. The concept uses nonlinear mechanical mechanisms to tailor stiffness and dissipate energy.

Shock and vibration absorber

A modular absorber for shipboard or industrial equipment where sensitive components require improved survivability under cyclic loading, transient shock, and structure-borne vibration.

Tunable wave-control layer

A longer-term concept based on magnetoactive polymers and guided-wave control. Potential future directions include adaptive acoustic layers, tunable waveguides, and field-responsive sensing surfaces.

Near-term direction

Start with a passive isolation component.

The first practical demonstrator should be passive, testable, and usable across both defence-adjacent and industrial sectors. Magnetic tunability can be developed later as a second-generation capability.

  • Target payload class can be selected after user/industry discussions.
  • Baseline comparison can be made against conventional rubber or polymer mounts.
  • Key metrics: static stiffness, transmissibility, damping ratio, shock response, fatigue, and environmental durability.
  • Potential dual-use applications include marine robotics, inspection systems, shipboard electronics, rail, transport, and heavy machinery.
